Well, It’s been a while since I last posted. Keir and I spent the summer with Kevin’s parents in Spokane. His mother’s cancer came back, and was too far along by the time they discovered it. Chemo might have been an option, but not with her heart problems and diabetes. She passed away at the end of July. We finally headed back home at the end of August, after working hard to get the estate squared away and Kevin’s father in a good place. He seems to be doing better now.
I also have a nephew that was born a few days ago! Cameron was born happy and healthy. I can already imagine Keir running up and giving him a huge hug like he did to his cousin Caden when they met this summer. He was fascinated by him.
Keir is 17 months old today. He says a couple of words now. Not much, but he’s starting. He’s also ADDICTED to bananas. Like, hardcore. He starts harassing you immediately if he sees you with one. He’s also unfortunately really hooked on Cheeto’s. Nothing against the company that makes them, but I don’t want him to be as bad about junk food as his dad and I are. Of course ,that means we are going to have to work on our own eating habits, because we’re the number one examples for him.
Being a responsible parent is turning out to be a lot of work!
We’re finally cutting our second and last crop of hay this week. If the rain holds off. We wanted to cut two weeks ago, but the weather hasn’t been cooperative. Really want to get it cut before the cold kills it off and it loses most of it’s nutritional value. Our last crop was sub-par, with the lack of rain we had earlier this year. This one looks to be much better ,though I see more weeds out there than I’d like, but it’s really not too bad. Napoleon certainly seems to approve of the crop when we ride out in the fields.
Kevin has been trained on a new area at work, and put on a new team. It seems to bode well for him there. After hearing about some local newspaper articles about his company’s merger with Express Scripts, we have been a little worried that they may move out of the Memphis area. But since they’re continuing to expand his training, hopefully that is a good sign. Time will tell, but he’s really happy there, and it’s a great job for him. One that he’s good at.
